biography

Rachel's interest in aerial and acrobatic performing arts began with lessons in Pole Dance Exercise at her University club. After a number of years dedicated to this sport (including both national and international competitions), she developed a desire to explore other less 'traditional' sports and to continue to challenge her fitness and abilities: this led her to the circus arts.

Following five years training across a number of aerial disciplines in her spare time, Rachel auditioned for and was accepted on to Circomedia's full-time professional circus training course. Circomedia is the UK's top circus school for contemporary circus and physical theatre, based in Bristol (UK). She graduated in December 2013, specialising in Static Trapeze (Singles & Doubles) and Chinese Pole.

Rachel subsequently moved to Australia to pursue an active, outdoor lifestyle which incorporates circus. There she taught as a pole dance instructor, flying trapeze instructor and circus coach, whilst continuing to train and perform herself (including returning to the UK to perform at Glastonbury Festival in 2015).

Rachel returned to the UK in March 2017. Alongside her day job, she continues to work as a Flying Trapeze Instructor for Gorilla Circus - the UK's pre-eminent Flying Trapeze school - during its summer seasons. She has also returned to Aircraft Circus Academy for Chinese Pole training (where her passion for circus first started!) and become a member of independent circus group Airealism, with which she has most recently performed in their production 'Sisters Grimm' at Jackson's Lane Theatre.
